Ulumba Village, Kenya is in a very rural area, where subsistence farming is the main occupation.  In recent years there have been longer dry seasons and farms are affected.  Sometimes when the rains come it floods, making it impossible to farm. This trend has contributed to worsening poverty, hunger and hard times here.

Several drilling attempts were made, but despite a promising initial hydrogeological survey, a drilled borehole in Ulumba Village did not produce sufficient water. We agreed with our field partner, Heaven’s Family, to reallocate the funds to Kajawo Village and Machemba Village in Malawi.

REalLOCATED NOVEMBER 2, 2021

Kajawo Village, Malawi is one of two projects to replace the intended well at Ulumba, Kenya.  The other is Machemba Village, Malawi.

The Kajawo Village water situation is equally dire.  They have a terrible shortage of water. Many have sickness and some die because they are daily drinking dirty water. The women of this village and the surrounding villages go out every morning to the one stream they all share. The women converge and meet there. They hand dig small holes and wait for some time for water to percolate to get clear water. So, it takes a long time out of their day. Children suffer also as they are sent to collect water, too. All the time spent collecting water results in many kids failing to do well in school and thus dropping out of school before it’s time.

This picture shows one of the “small” holes that the villagers dig for clear water from a nearby stream.  The digging is slow going.  It is the dry season, so they must wait longer, dig deeper.  Several villages come to this area to use these hand-dug holes for water.

The well is complete at  Kajawo Village, Malawi!  The people are now enjoying clean water!

Our ministry partner Charles says, “We are here to thank you and appreciating the wonderful job which is happening here in Malawi through your support. Communities are greatly transformed and the land is gaining divine healing.”

The two videos show the joy of the people of Kajawo Village, celebrating and praising God because they now have access to clean, safe water to drink and for all their household uses. They did not hesitate to wash off and wash some dishes during the celebration! They now can use the water to water gardens, and the moms and kids don’t have to go so far and spend long hours fetching dirty water that would make them sick.

Thank you so much for how you have changed their lives and saved lives, too!
