Taali is a rural village in Sindh Province, Pakistan. The people are the Marwari tribe and the village is constructed of mud and sticks with no electricity. There is no sewage system, no out houses, people go into the bushes as their bathroom. There is no school or medical clinic in the village. The people are very poor working as farmers/ generational slaves. There are now 15 families who are Christians meeting in house churches since the past two years when our ministry partners on the ground began ministering there. Taali is desert village so they store water when they have rain. It’s very dirty, contaminated water and when they don’t have any rainwater of their own they walk 8km roundtrip to the landlord of the farmland who lives 8 km away from the village. It takes hours to fetch water and sometime the women get attacked on the trek for water as they are targets on the road. The people suffer from many stomach illnesses and skin issues.
Providing a well will meet a very urgent need for clean water. They will have clean water to drink. Something they have never had before. Water for cooking, bathing, and other house hold uses. Water for their livestock and growing gardens around their homes. They will save money for medicine and their health will improve greatly. Another prime goal is to share the gospel. Tribal groups like the Marwari are rejected from the community. No one cares for them or loves them. When we will go to them to share love of Jesus by drilling a deep water well it will open the door wider for the gospel while providing better heath to children and families. Also, it will protect women from attacks on them when they go to bring water from landlord’s home.
Our ministry partner William Sarfraz of World Impact Ministries Pakistan is the main director for these projects. This will be the first well project to be completed with this ministry partner. These are very reliable partners and we have had excellent success in our relationship with them to date. Heaven’s Family sister ministry, Persecuted Christians Ministry, has been working with William for over 4 years now. William is involved with church planting, ongoing discipleship, and medical help among the Christians who are often persecuted in Pakistan. William has always had great concern for the people to have clean water and has done previous clean water projects in the past, but this is our first project with their ministry. We do not do projects unless we have formed an ongoing partnership with a good track record of accountability with any ministry partner who is involved in any Safe Water Ministry project. We require ‘before’ marker photos where the well will be drilled. We collect pertinent details that describe the need, collect completion photos, reports and testimonies.
